Covid-19: Emirates suspends passenger services from Pakistan

According to reports, 26 passengers tested positive for Covid-19 on an Emirates flight to Hong Kong on June 20, all of whom had travelled from Pakistan

Emirates airline has suspended scheduled passenger services from Pakistan after a number of passengers tested positive for Covid-19.

A spokesperson for the airline said in a press release on Tuesday night, “We regret to temporarily suspend passenger services from Pakistan, from 24 June 04:00 Pakistan LT, until early next week.”

According to media reports, 26 passengers tested positive for Covid-19 on an Emirates flight to Hong Kong on June 20, all of whom had travelled from Pakistan and passed through Dubai.

“We are coordinating closely with the various authorities and will review and implement any required additional measures to satisfy all parties before we resume services from Pakistan,” the spokesperson said. “We remain committed to serving our customers in Pakistan and are working hard to resume services as soon as possible.”

In the meantime, the spokesperson added, Emirates will continue to operate repatriation flights to Pakistan as per the previously announced schedule, as well as cargo services.
