Tatarstan to collaborate with Pakistan to promote halal food

The Republic of Tatarstan’s Deputy Minister for Industry and Trade, Denis Vgleen has said on Monday that Tatarstan will be collaborating with Pakistan for the promotion of halal food, media sources have reported.

Talking to media sources at the inaugural ceremony of the 6th  two-day International Halal Conference and Exhibition, Vgleen stated that he is focusing on halal food not because of religious reasons but because it is hygienic and of good quality.

He further informed that Tatarstan presently has no laws regarding halal food but it is in the process of drafting a new law after seeking approval from the federal authorities. He further stated that if the law is approved, the country will be able to promote the halal food sector. The country has also sanctioned a representative in Pakistan in the same regard, he informed.

The deputy minister also revealed that bilateral relations between the two countries could be further strengthened by working together in various sectors. Provincial minister for livestock and dairy development, Saeed Manais, stated that Pakistan had the capacity to fulfill international demand for halal and hygienic foods.

Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yasin also informed that the concept of halal food was quickly gaining momentum world over and this presented an opportunity for Pakistan to earn a distinguished name for itself world over.

The event was attended by halal food experts and officials representing several countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Russia, Tatarstan, the United Kingdom, Turkey and some Middle Eastern nations. They agreed to work for promotion of halal food exports in collaboration with Pakistan. It was also concluded that 40 businessmen from the industry who attended the ceremony will be visiting Pakistan shortly
