City, Civic prices revised by Rs100,000

KARACHI: Honda Atlas has revised its cars’ prices with City 1.3, 1.5 and Civic to be sold Rs100,000 expensively from April as a consequence of rupee devaluation.

Apart from City and Civic vehicles, Honda has also increased BRV price by Rs20,000. The new prices will not be applicable for those who placed orders and have already submitted balance payment until March 22, 2018. The new prices will be applicable from April onward.

The auto industry, which heavily depends on imported CKDs (Completely Knocked Down), has been affected negatively by the recent rupee devaluation.

The other two players Suzuki and Toyota have already increased car prices citing rupee depreciation as the main reason behind it this month.

  1. Honda Atlas increased prices in January by 50,000/- due to devaluation, and now just after 2 months, prices are again increased by 100,000 due to same reason.

What is more disturbing is the fact that Honda Atlas as a practice charges these extra price increases even from those customers who booked Honda City/Civic 3-4 months ago i.e. in November or December 2017 (when there was no devaluation) and are waiting delivery due to company’s failure to timely give the car, even after payment of full amounts. Greed has no limit apparently. This is an illegal practice and Government/regulatory bodies are all sleeping on this issue. Request Honorable Chief Justice to take up this issue with the local assemblers.
