Punjab has better investment climate: Hashim

Hashim said foreign investors were keen to invest in Pakistan’s energy, housing and infrastructure projects

LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Finance Makhdoom Jawan Bakhat Hashim Tuesday said that the investment climate in Punjab is better than overall investment situation in Pakistan.

In a meeting with Minister of State/Chairman Board of Investment (BOI) Haroon Sharif here, he said the Punjab government was working on complete automation of taxation and online registration of the properties to make the province more attractive for the investment.

Besides, the government was also planning to establish industrial zones, he said and added that despite all odds, reforms were being introduced to increase industrial and agricultural productivity.

Hashim Jawan said that Punjab government was taking all measures to end the financial crisis for which it was promoting investment and public-private partnerships, besides taking steps for financial support to the SME, agriculture, industry and skilled person.

He added the PTI was committed to make Pakistan a best-skilled workforce market for the world.

In this regard, new skilled and vocational training programmes were being devised by the government.

He said that the provincial government would soon announce its five-year development programme.

On this occasion, Haroon Sharif said that investors’ delegation from China and UAE would soon be coming to Pakistan and Punjab’s investment climate would be projected to foreign investors properly.

He mentioned that the foreign investors were keen to invest in Pakistan’s energy, housing and infrastructure projects. Establishment of the new industrial zones would also attract foreign investors.

He hoped Punjab would warmly welcome foreign investors delegations and played its key role in the economic stability of the country.
