OGRA notifies hike in RLNG prices for November

ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has declared a notable increase in the prices of imported Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG), effective from November 1, 2023, for a one-month duration.

Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has notified hike in the prices of imported Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) which will be effective from November 1, 2023 for a one-month duration.

OGRA, in a statement, said that the increase in RLNG prices is due to increase in RLNG brent prices in the international market.

According to the OGRA notification, the price of RLNG for Sui Northern has been increased by 1.20 percent while the price of RLNG for Sui Southern has been increased by 1.17pc and the new RLNG prices for both Sui Northern and Sui Southern will be applicable from November 1, 2023.

For Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), the transmission price per Million British Thermal Units (MMBTU) is now set at $12.4687, while the distribution price has been fixed at $13.4930 per MMBTU.

Similarly, for Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL), the transmission price has been raised to $12.0477 per MMBTU and the distribution price is now set at $14.0337 per MMBTU.

It should be noted that the price of RLNG in October for Sui Northern was $13.33 per MMBTU while for Sui Southern, the price of RLNG in October was $13.87/MMBTU.

It is pertinent to mention that OGRA’s determination of hike in the prices of imported RLNG for November 2023 is a direct response to the fluctuating RLNG brent prices in the international market besides highlighting the impact of global energy markets on local energy pricing. Similarly, this price hike in RLNG prices is likely to cause significant implications for both commercial and residential consumers of the natural gas across the country. Moreover, the hike in RLNG prices, in the start of winter season, is expected to influence the cost dynamics for heating and energy consumption across the country.
