Mari Petroleum drills, tests new gas well in Sindh

Gas will be processed at the Sachal Gas Processing Complex and supplied to SNGPL

Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) announced Thursday the successful drilling and testing of a new development well in the Mari Deep field in Sindh.

Mari Petroleum informed the Pakistan Stock Market through a notice that the gas from the well will be processed at the Sachal Gas Processing Complex (SGPC) and supplied to the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL).

This will enhance the utilisation of the SGPC and optimise the reservoir management of the Mari Deep field.

The well was spudded on December 17, 2023, and reached a depth of 2,975 meters. The well test showed a gas flow of 19 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) and a condensate flow of 8.3 barrels per day (BPD), with a wellhead flowing pressure of 2,448 pounds per square inch (Psi) at a 40/64-inch choke size.

The well, named Mari Deep-20, is located in the Goru-B formation of the Mari Development and Production Lease (D&PL) area.

MPCL is the operator of the Mari D&PL with a 100% working interest.

Mari Petroleum Company Limited is a public limited company incorporated in Pakistan on December 4, 1984. The company is principally engaged in exploration, production and sale of hydrocarbons.
