Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan held a high-level meeting on Thursday to explore collaborative strategies for strengthening Pakistan’s e-commerce ecosystem.
In a major development, both ministries agreed to establish a joint working group tasked with aligning efforts and crafting targeted policies to support the growth of the digital trade sector.
The ministers emphasized the importance of coordinated, long-term initiatives to build a resilient digital economy. They underscored that inclusive stakeholder consultation will be central to shaping effective e-commerce reforms.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to digital transformation, they stressed the need to expand digital trade infrastructure, adopt modern technologies, and promote innovation—recognizing e-commerce as a key engine of economic growth and a national priority.
The joint initiative aims to improve regulatory frameworks, enhance digital connectivity, and unlock new opportunities for entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and consumers across the country’s rapidly evolving digital marketplace.
