Chinese tiles industry delegation meets SAPM to discuss FBR monitoring policy

Haroon Akhtar assures investors that cameras are installed only for production counting and packaging stages

A delegation from the Chinese tiles industry met Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan on Tuesday to discuss the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) camera installation policy in the tiles and ceramics sector.

During the meeting, Khan clarified that cameras would only be installed on production lines for counting tiles and at the final stage for QR code packaging and product counting.

He emphasized that no cameras would be installed at any other point in the process and any violations should be reported to the government.

Khan said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had directed that Chinese investors be fully supported and facilitated in their business operations in Pakistan. He added that all industries had agreed to comply with the policy and install the required monitoring systems.

Calling the measure essential for transparency and growth, Khan said the initiative was designed in consultation with stakeholders and aimed at ensuring fair documentation within the sector. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing a conducive business environment for investors and industrial growth.

Representatives of the FBR assured the Chinese manufacturers of complete cooperation and transparency during the camera installation process.
