ECC likely to remove duties on selected textile sector items

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet is likely to give approval of removing additional customs and regulations duties on selected items of the textile sector under National Tariff Policy 2019-24.

Documents show that the Adviser to Prime Minister (PM) on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh on Wednesday would chair the meeting in which six agendas including removal of additional customs and regulations duties on selected items of the textile sector under National Tariff Policy 2019-24 will be discussed.

The other agenda items include technical supplementary grant for Islamabad High Court amounting to Rs102 million, approval of TSG of Rs85m of National Heritage and Culture division, waiver of guarantee fee on foreign loans of K2/K3 project, disbursement of PSM employees salaries for financial year 2020-21 and national health division summary with regards to Executive Committee on the of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) decision to shift expanded program on immunization.

According to the National Heritage and Cultural division that administers control of National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA), Karachi has been transferred to National heritage and Culture (Nll&C) Division from Inter-Provincial Coordination Division.

The budget allocation of NAPA for the current fiscal year ending June 30, 2021 has been allocated under Demand No.102-Inter-Provincial Coordination Division which is required to be placed under Demand No.058-Miscellaneous expenditure of NH & C Division through Technical Supplementary Grant. 

The Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Division has surrendered the budget allocation of NAPA amounting to Rs85 million, in favour of national heritage and culture division and total funds surrendered to NAPA in July 2020. The approval of the ECC has been sought by the National Heritage and culture division.
