Pakistan’s textile exports reached $1.271 billion in July 2024, marking a 3.09% decline from $1.312 billion in the same month last year, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
On a month-on-month basis, textile exports declined by 10.13% in July 2024 compared to the $1.414 billion recorded in June 2024, according to PBS data.
Key sectors showed mixed performance, with ready-made garments seeing a 7.57% growth, reaching $295.522 million from $274.730 million, while art, silk, and synthetic textiles rose by 4.12% to $27.245 million.
Exports of tents, canvas, and tarpaulin increased by 14.22% to $10.877 million compared to $9.523 million in July 2023.
However, cotton yarn exports experienced a drop of 42.54%, falling from $97.031 million to $55.750 million. Cotton cloth exports also decreased slightly by 0.56% to $140.148 million, down from $140.936 million.
Other sectors witnessing declines included yarn other than cotton yarn, which dropped by 22.35% to $2.556 million, knitwear, which fell by 1.88% to $357.686 million, bedwear, which decreased by 1.20% to $214.305 million, and towels, which saw a 3.67% reduction to $70.093 million.
Exports of made-up articles, excluding towels and bedwear, fell by 5.84% to $48.057 million, while all other textile materials decreased by 9.38% to $48.897 million.
