PITB and Mines Department digitize oversight with Chief Inspectorate of Mines App

The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), in partnership with the Punjab Mines and Minerals Department, has geo-tagged over 3,600 mineral reserves using the Chief Inspectorate of Mines App, aiming to improve safety and transparency in the mining sector.

This was announced in a progress review meeting chaired by PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf.

The app, developed by PITB, facilitates digital inspections across mining sites in seven regions, where 14 inspectors have conducted over 1,600 inspections so far.

It also allows real-time monitoring of emergency rescue equipment and timely incident reporting, ensuring higher safety standards and compliance within Punjab’s mining operations.

“This digital solution advances the mining sector by strengthening real-time compliance monitoring, making operations more transparent and safe,” stated the PITB Chairman, highlighting the initiative’s impact on modernizing mining oversight in the province.
