Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has intensified its campaign against gas theft, carrying out extensive raids in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad. During the operations, the company disconnected 186 illegal gas connections and imposed fines amounting to Rs7 million on violators.
According to media reports, in Lahore, SNGPL teams disconnected 21 illegal gas connections and four connections for compressor misuse. Fines totaling Rs2.88 million were levied against those involved in gas theft.
Faisalabad witnessed the disconnection of seven illegal connections and one for compressor-related violations, resulting in fines of Rs0.06 million. In Sheikhupura, three illegal connections were terminated, and fines worth Rs3.7 million were imposed on offenders.
In Gujranwala, authorities disconnected one illegal connection and imposed fines totaling Rs0.10 million. Similarly, in Bahawalpur, one illegal connection and 18 compressor-related violations were addressed.
Multan’s operations resulted in the disconnection of 14 illegal gas connections, along with three violations due to compressor misuse. In Sahiwal, two illegal connections were severed, with fines of Rs0.18 million imposed on offenders.
Karak saw the most significant crackdown, with 111 illegal gas connections disconnected. Fines worth Rs0.10 million were imposed, and six FIRs were registered against those involved in gas theft.
SNGPL has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling gas theft and ensuring fair and uninterrupted supply to its consumers. The company continues to enforce strict measures to safeguard its network and hold violators accountable.
