German authorities raid Adidas offices over customs investigation

Authorities search various locations as part of an inquiry into customs and tax compliance for imported products in Germany

Authorities raided Adidas AG’s headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany, as part of a tax investigation, the company confirmed on Tuesday.

The raid, which included searches of other locations, relates to an ongoing inquiry into compliance with customs and tax regulations for products imported into Germany.

Adidas stated the investigation covers the period from October 2019 to August 2024. The company has been in contact with customs authorities for several years, providing documents and information to assist in clarifying issues tied to different interpretations of German and European law.

“The company does not expect any significant financial impact in connection with the investigation,” Adidas said. It added that it continues to cooperate closely with customs authorities to address outstanding questions.

Adidas has faced increased scrutiny in recent years, including challenges stemming from its terminated partnership with rapper Ye after his antisemitic remarks.
