Rs 364 million worth of fake cigarettes and machinery seized in Sukkur

Customs authorities seal the factory and file cases against the owners of the factory, warehouse, and vehicles involved

KARACHI: The Anti-Smuggling Sukkur Team from the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Hyderabad carried out a major operation in Sukkur, exposing a large-scale counterfeit cigarette manufacturing setup.

The raid targeted a warehouse in Golimar and an unauthorized factory in Rohri, leading to the seizure of counterfeit cigarettes from brands such as Olympic, Honda, Hiway, and Classic Gold. Officials confiscated 1,045 cartons of fake cigarettes valued at Rs 240 million, along with 21,710 kg of smuggled raw materials worth Rs 54 million, 31 smuggled machines estimated at Rs 70 million, and two vehicles.

The total value of the seized items is approximately Rs 364 million. Customs authorities have sealed the factory and lodged cases against the owners of the factory, warehouse, and vehicles involved. Investigations are ongoing to uncover further details.
