PIA and Romanian officials discuss strengthening aviation links

The discussions focus on launching direct flights and involving Romanian firms in Pakistan’s MRO sector

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) CEO Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Muhammad Amir Hayat and General Manager Asif Zia met with Romanian Ambassador Dr. Dan Stoenescu to discuss cooperation opportunities between Pakistan and Romania.

The discussions focused on the possibility of launching direct flights between the two countries and involving Romanian companies in Pakistan’s Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) sector.

A high-level delegation from PIA and Pakistani aviation stakeholders is planned to visit Romania for business-to-business meetings and talks with aviation authorities.

Ambassador Stoenescu acknowledged the role of the Pakistan-Romania Business Council (PRBC) in promoting economic cooperation between the two countries.

Atif Farooqi, Advisor and COO of PRBC, highlighted that Romania’s upcoming accession to the Schengen Area will strengthen bilateral relations and create new opportunities for trade, investment, and tourism.
