LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has announced an increase in fares for both passenger and freight trains following a rise in petroleum product prices.
According to an official notification, passenger train fares will increase by 3%, while the charges for freight wagons will rise by 4%. The new passenger fares will be effective from June 20, while the updated freight rates will take effect from June 23.
This fare hike is a response to rising operational costs and is part of Pakistan Railways’ strategy to manage expenditures amid escalating fuel prices.
