Pakistan suspends mail delivery to US after new duties imposed

Pakistan Post halts shipments following US taxes on incoming mail

Pakistan, along with more than 25 other countries, has temporarily stopped mail delivery to the United States after the US introduced new duties and taxes.

According to reports, Pakistan Post has suspended sending booked mail to the US, citing concerns that items may be returned under the updated regulations.

The US government ended the previous duty-free facility through Executive Order 14324, issued on July 25. Under the new system, all types of mail sent to the US are now subject to duties and taxes, affecting postal services worldwide.

Other major countries, including China, the UK, Japan, Austria, Australia, New Zealand, India, Germany, France, Russia, and Singapore, have also paused mail deliveries, with airlines reporting difficulties in transporting postal items.

The affected nations have raised the matter with the US through the Universal Postal Union, a UN agency, which is working to resolve the dispute.
