Sikandar Ali Memon appointed CEO of Pakistan Petroleum Limited

Memon steps into role after Imran Abbasy’s three-year tenure ends

Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) announced on Friday that Sikandar Ali Memon has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) of the company. The decision was made at a Board of Directors meeting held on 19th September 2025, with Memon set to assume his role from 21st September 2025. He will serve until his retirement or the appointment of a permanent CEO, whichever occurs first.

Memon, who has been with PPL since November 2023 as the Chief Operating Officer (COO), brings over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. His previous roles include leadership positions with major international firms such as British Petroleum (BP), Aramco, Petronas, and Occidental Petroleum.

The Board of Directors also acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing CEO, Imran Abbasy, who completed his three-year term with the company on 20th September 2025. The Board extended its best wishes to Abbasy for his future endeavors.

Memon has a background in petroleum engineering and has held key positions in oil and gas production across South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa. Before joining PPL, Memon served as Head of Production Engineering and Technology at United Energy Pakistan (UEP). He also held significant roles at ADNOC Group, Saudi Aramco, Petronas, and BP Pakistan.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology and has completed various advanced courses in petroleum engineering.
