Sugarcane crushing season to begin from November 15

Decision finalised after consultations with provinces and sugar mills; minister warns of strict action against mills delaying crushing

The federal government has announced that the sugarcane crushing season across Pakistan will officially begin on November 15, 2025.

The decision was made during a meeting of the Sugar Advisory Board, chaired by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, on Wednesday.

The session was attended by representatives of the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association, led by Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf, as well as cane commissioners from all provinces and officials from various ministries.

Minister Hussain said the decision followed detailed consultations with provincial governments and the sugar industry to ensure that sugarcane growers do not face delays or financial hardship.

He emphasized that strict action would be taken against any sugar mill that fails to begin crushing operations on the specified date.

The meeting also discussed measures to streamline coordination between growers and mills to prevent disruptions in the supply chain ahead of the new crushing season.
