Pakistan’s mobile imports grew 14.38 percent during 1st half of FY 2017-18

LAHORE: Pakistan’s mobile phone imports during first half of financial year 2017-18 increased 14.38 percent, touching $376.498 million against $329.177 million in corresponding period of FY 2016-17.

During December, mobile phone imports were recorded at $73.047 million, up 12.09 percent from $65.168 million a year ago. On a month-on-month basis, mobile phone imports during December 2017 went up by 25.41 percent to $58.246 million in November 2017.

Data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) revealed overall telecom imports grew 12.06 percent during the first half of FY 2017-18 compared to same period last year (SPLY). Total imports touched $739,618 million against $659.991 million during the SPLY.

A 57.97 percent surge was recorded on a month-on-month basis in telecom imports during December 2017 to touch $179.287 million against $113.522 million in November 2017.

Imports of telecom apparatus reached $363.498 million, rising 9.77 percent during first half of FY 2017-18 against $330.814 million in corresponding period of previous year. On a month-on-basis, telecom apparatus imports escalated by 92 percent in December, touching $106.240 million against $55.276 million in November 2017.
