Pakistan Furniture Council signs three MoUs with Chinese companies

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Furniture Council (PFC) on Monday inked three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with Chinese companies for consultations in the furniture sector, transfer of modern technology and machines, and joint ventures to open Pakistan-made traditional furniture outlets in China and other countries.

The Chinese furniture manufacturers had earlier expressed willingness to establish manufacturing units by forming joint ventures in Pakistan and at the same time, Pakistani furniture outlets will be set up in different cities of China to promote bilateral trade.

PFC Chief Executive Mian Kashif Ashfaq had said that Pakistan and China were moving towards greater economic cooperation, adding that the Pakistani premier was warmly welcomed in China and the perception about Pakistan after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government came to power was positive.

“Chinese stakeholders are interested in pouring money into Pakistan,” he had said. “They discussed joint ventures in different sectors including the furniture manufacturing industry.”
