ECC approves 46.4m for families of deceased Petroleum Division employees

  • Committee also approves Rs200m supplementary grants to Balochistan govt under the ‘Pur Aman Balochistan Policy’

ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet has approved a supplementary grant of 46.4 million for the families of the deceased employees of the Petroleum Division (Policy Wing) under the Prime Minister’s Assistance Package.

It is pertinent to mention that legal heirs of the officers of Petroleum Division (Policy Wing), who died while in service between 15.6.13 to 09-02-15, had requested that they may be granted all the benefits as per the Prime Minister’s Assistance Package issued on 20th October 2014.

The ECC meeting, held on Tuesday with Finance Minister Asad Umar in the chair, also approved Rs200 million supplementary grants to the Balochistan government under the “Pur Aman Balochistan Policy”.

Pur Aman Balochistan Policy was launched in 2015, which stipulated provision of funds on an equal basis by the federal and provincial government to encourage the misled individuals (Ferraries) give up militancy and play an active role in the development and prosperity of Balochistan.

Meanwhile, the committee approved a supplementary grant of Rs20 million to the Ministry of National Food Security & Research (MNFS&R) for operationalisation of its Plant Breeders’ Rights Registry. ECC also directed the ministry to expedite the process for creation of 71 posts at the registry.

Moreover, the ECC approved a proposal of the Commerce Division based on a request by Philip Morris Pakistan Ltd for export and analysis of tobacco seed at M/S Eurofins Dr Specht Lab, Germany. The analysis report would help in the production of good quality tobacco for domestic use and export purposes.

Furthermore, the ECC approved a supplementary grant of Rs11.441 million to the Ministry of Privatization to meet the expenses pertaining to the relocation of its offices to the new premises, Kohsar Block.

The ECC on the occasion also considered the proposal of the Power Division regarding the approval of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited as gas supplier for 1,263MW RLNG-based Public Sector Power Generation Project near Trimmu Barrage, District Jhang.
