Hafeez Shaikh urges US investors to explore Pakistani market

Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh on Friday urged the United States (US) businessmen to explore business opportunities in Pakistan.

Talking to US Ambassador Paul W Jones, Hafeez Shaikh said that Pakistan offered a friendly environment for investment and the US businessmen should take advantage of the opportunities available in various sectors of the economy.

He said that Pakistan had a long history of healthy relations with the US and both sides were required to further promote linkages between the people of the two countries.

Shaikh, however, stressed that the economic and commercial relations between the two countries need to be strengthened.

Both the leaders agreed to further expand the scope of cooperation for the mutual benefit of the two countries.

The adviser briefed the envoy about the steps being taken by the government to address macroeconomic woes and to put the economy on a sound footing.

He also appraised the US envoy about the measures being taken by the government with regard to its international commitment to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
