SMEDA to set up 1,000 stitching units

SIALKOT: The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) has decided to establish 1,000 stitching units in industrial cities of the country, including Karachi, Lahore, Sialkot and Faisalabad, in order to boost and develop the textile industry.

Addressing the participants of an awareness seminar at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Thursday, senior SMEDA officials stated that the authority would collaborate with local textile industrialists to provide advanced machinery to the owners of industrial stitching units.

SCCI President Khawaja Masud Akhtar on the occasion maintained that the SMEDA project would help develop the textile industry on modern lines.
