Conducive environment for investors among top govt priorities: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Monday the provision of a conducive environment for businessmen and investors was his government’s top priority.

“The business-friendly policies and ease of doing business are a source of encouragement for the overseas businessmen to invest in Pakistan,” he said in a meeting with prominent businessman Arif Habib, who was leading a delegation of Pakistanis working in Qatar.

He termed the overseas Pakistanis a valuable asset for the homeland, as they contribute immensely to the national economy through foreign exchange.

He said the youth, particularly the educated and skilled one, deserved special attention, adding the government had recently launched a project to provide them with jobs opportunities.

Imran Khan said the Pakistani workforce was playing an important role in Qatar’s progress and development.

The meeting discussed ways to strengthen the trade relations between Pakistan and Qatar, particularly Qatari investment and employment opportunities for the Pakistani skilled persons.

Qatar Stock Exchange Director Product and Market Development Mohsin Mujtaba, Qatar Financial Centre General Council Ishaq Barni, Al-Rayyan Investment Senior Director Akbar Khan, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Legal Director Aarij Syed Wasti and Qatar’s Ministry of Economic Affairs Chief Economist Irfan Aleem were part of the delegation.
