Coronavirus forces Pakistani importers to look new destinations for raw material

KARACHI: Pakistani businessmen are reluctant to place new import orders from China due to the deadly coronavirus outbreak there, a local newspaper reported. 

After killing above 2000 people in China, the coronavirus is spreading in Europe, the Middle East and other parts of the world.

Suspension and delay in supply of raw materials from China have forced importers to look towards new destinations.

Meanwhile, Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce and Industries Abdul Razak Dawood while talking to a group of journalists in Islamabad on Monday said that coronavirus is impeding Pak-China trade.

“Since the bilateral is largely in favour of China, imports from the neighboring country have largely been affected.” He said the ministry was monitoring the possible effects of coronavirus on domestic production and exports.
