ADB to provide $50m to strengthen Pakistan’s COVID-19 preparedness 

The Asian Development Bank has agreed to provide $ 50 million to Pakistan to procure essential medical equipment for early detection, emergency care, and management of severe respiratory diseases in wake of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, a private TV channel reported.

According to a circular issued on Wednesday, it was decided in a meeting held at the Planning Commission between Pakistan authorities and ADB high-ups. 

It has also been learnt that Pakistan has reportedly approached the World Bank for $200 million (Rs32 billion) in loans to fight the deadly COVID-19 outbreak.The loan amount will be spent for enhancing the capacity of public hospitals and laboratories. Initially, Pakistan will request $140 million in loan from the World Bank and if the situation worsens,  it wants to enhance upto $200 million.
