NTDC to install 160MVA transformer at Rawat grid station

National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) is all set to remove identified system constraints in order to provide uninterrupted power supply to the consumers of respective areas.

“In this regard, NTDC engineers and staff will install 160MVA transformer at 500kV Rawat grid station, Islamabad,” said a statement issued by the company. “To commence the installation process, power shutdown will take place on 9th and 10th May 2020 from 0600hrs to 1500hrs.”

According to the NTDC spokesman, “The company has managed to provide uninterred power supply to the consumers of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, however, in case of emergency, some areas of Islamabad could be affected by the installation.”

He said the 500kV grid station at Rawat was already considered a major hub for power dispersal in northern Punjab. “With the installation of this fourth transformer of 160MVA, the capacity of the station will be enhanced. Resultantly, it will help improve system stability and voltage profile; reduction in overloading of system will be an added advantage.”
