China to provide $4m equipment for vocational training institutes

China has previously extended cooperation for social welfare through low cost housing and agricultural support to boost rural economy

ISLAMABAD: China will provide training equipment worth $4 million for vocational training institutes and schools across Pakistan through the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission. 

The signing ceremony for the letter of exchange for the provision of vocational school equipment and material was held on Wednesday at the Ministry of Economic Affairs. 

Ambassador of China to Pakistan Yao Jing, Embassy of China Minister Counsellor Dr Wang Zhihua attended the ceremony while the Federal Secretary of Economic Affairs Division Noor Ahmed signed the letter of exchange.

The ambassador reassured the Pakistani side of cooperation by China for socio-economic development in Pakistan. 

China is currently taking part in a number of projects for the social welfare of the low income segment of the population, like extending cooperation under the prime minister’s low cost housing scheme and boosting rural economy through agricultural support. 

The Government of China has also supported Pakistan in its bid to mitigate the impact of Covid-19 pandemic and to control the spread of locusts in the southern parts of the country. 

The ambassador also appreciated the continuity of CPEC projects, particularly the establishment of export-based industry through Special Economic Zones.

Secretary economic affairs reiterated a strong commitment towards further strengthening and expanding of bilateral economic cooperation between China and Pakistan. 

Both sides agreed that all the on-going initiatives will be pursued to achieve the targeted completion so that people of Pakistan can benefit from the Chinese assistance in a more productive manner.
