KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has decided to continue its efforts in getting European Air Safety Agency (EASA)’s ban on flights lifted. EASA had rejected PIA’s appeal only days ago and had decided to maintain the ban on PIA flights till December 31.
As per news reports by Business Recorder, Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar has informed that the national air carrier is in contact with EASA. The minister was also of the view that the issue is expected to be resolved in two months. He informed that the government will file an appeal against EASA’s decision on August 31, 2020.
EASA implemented the six-month ban on July 1, after which PIA flights to the UK and the USA were also banned. So far EASA has not only maintained the ban till the year end but has also given the indication that it might be extended even further if Pakistan’s civil aviation measures are not satisfactory.
