Need to review industrial development policies in Punjab: Sheikh Alauddin

Punjab Minister Industries Commerce & Trade, Sheikh Alauddin has said that the industrial policies needed to be reviewed in order to fulfill future needs of the local industry of the province. He said there is no doubt that we have much industrial potential and also have the skilled manpower in Punjab but it is needed to tap these potentials.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting in industry department committee room on the topic of Punjab industrial policy, here on Saturday. Secretary Industries Mujtaba Paracha, Deputy Secretary Moeed Rana, P&Ds Madam Maliha, representatives of finance, labour, energy, P&D, women development departments attended the meeting.

A three-member team comprising Stephen Hil, Ali Abid, and Talha briefed the meeting about possible changes in industrial policy for the betterment of Punjab industry. They put forth a proposal that how can Punjab industry be made more competitive and protective.

Provincial Minister Sheikh Alauddin said that the increase in the ratio of import has adversely affected the local industry and the issue needed to be resolved at earliest.

He said that the prevailing circumstances demand us to promote the use of “Made in Pakistan” products to save the local industry.
