PEW asks FPCCI president to resign over NAB references

ISLAMABAD

The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Thursday asked the FPCCI president to immediately resign from his post as he can be arrested any time which will damage the image of FPCCI and the country.

NAB has filed a reference against FPCCI President Zubair Tufail, his son, brother and others for evading tax and the accused can be arrested anytime, it said.

SM Muneer, the leader of the united business group should not prefer to support his blue-eyed over the interests of the country, said PEW SVP Kashid Ibbal Gondal.

In a statement issued here, he said that the accused have been granted bail from a Sindh High Court bench comprising of Justice Junaid Ghaffar and Justice Muhammad Humayoon, but NAB is still trying to get the bail cancelled.

The NAB authorities investigated the case in detail and roped in the FPCCI president and his family members.

Gondal asked the government to initiate a detailed inquiry into the matter as the involvement of the representative of the business community of the country in tax theft is very shocking, at the least.
