ISLAMABAD: Committee on Delegated Legislation has expressed its dismay at knowing there was no legally constituted Privatization Commission (PC).

CDL directed the government to revisit current Privatization Ordinance 2000, which as per its opinion was defective, reported Business Recorder.

This issue came under deliberation during a debate regarding a petition against regulations of Privatization Commission Ordinance 2000 and scrutiny of rule regarding valuation of property taken up by the Senate Committee on Delegated Legislation on Tuesday.

The meeting was chaired by Senator Taj Haider and was attended by Senators Javed Abbasi, Daud Khan, Ms Kulsoom Perveen, Farhatullah Babar and some other prominent senior officials.

When deliberating about distribution of powers between Chairman Privatization Commission and the board, Senator Farhatullah Babar observed vagueness in Privatization Ordinance 2001, as it was silent regarding who the members of the commission are and how it was constituted.

Hence it was decided that Privatization Ordinance 2000 would be revisited as per the directives of the committee.
