China not insensitive to Pakistan’s problems: FPCCI

ISLAMABAD: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) said on Saturday China is not indifferent to the problems of Pakistan.

“China has remained the best friend and it has always played an unforgettable role in the stability and prosperity of Pakistan,” said FPCCI Vice-President Karim Aziz Malik.

Talking to the business community after his recent visit to China, he said that he met a number of top officials and leading businessmen including Communist Party of China’s Propaganda Department head Huang Kunming, who was genuinely concerned about Pakistan. “All the Chinese officials were not only concerned about Pakistan but were also willing to cooperate towards the stability of our economy,” he added.

Beijing wants to import more from Pakistan in order to improve the balance of trade between two brotherly countries, he informed. Malik said that it was heartening to know that China was preparing an economic package for Pakistan which would be bigger than the Saudi package.

He said that Pakistan would be the biggest beneficiary of the Belt and Road Initiative, as 20 per cent of the total sum allocated for the project was being invested in Pakistan, which would significantly improve the standard of living of the people.

China has accepted Pakistan’s demand to include more countries in the project on which Islamabad and Beijing will hold talks next month, said FPCCI Coordination Chairman Malik Sohail, adding that China would promote Pakistani agriculture and industrial sectors in the second phase of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor.
