Gas supply to Lahore increased by 20mmcfd

LAHORE: Gas supply for Lahore region has been increased by the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) and an additional supply of 20 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) has been added to cater to the needs of domestic consumers keeping in view the ongoing season.

“Currently, there is no gap between demand and supply for Lahore region,” said a press release issued by the company. “All the CNG stations, including those providing CNG to 186 LTC buses, are being provided with an uninterrupted supply of gas.”

Similarly, all industrial and commercial consumers, including export-based textile industry, are being provided with an uninterrupted supply of gas. Low pressure may be experienced at some locations due to the use of compressors and at tail ends of the network. Over 350 gas connections have been disconnected due to unauthorized use of compressors.

More than 100 teams, including emergency teams, leakage rectification teams, and system augmentation teams, are working round the clock to resolve consumer’s complaints pertaining to gas pressures.

SNGPL has requested the consumers to restrain from illegal use of compressors and to use energy conservation techniques, including conical baffle and timer devices for geysers etc. as well as space heating.

The teams have been checking gas pressures in affected areas, including Wapda Town, Johar Town, Allama Iqbal Town, Harbanspura, Faisal Town etc, and found gas supply to be normal.
