Rasheed urges Egypt to invest in Pakistan Railways

Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed and Egyptian ambassador Dr Tarek Dahroug have deliberated over possible Egyptian investments in Pakistan Railways (PR).

The two officials discussed a possible bilateral partnership between the railway departments of the two countries in a meeting on Tuesday wherein the minister underlined the importance of Main-Line 1 project which will connect Karachi to Peshawar with over about 1,872 train track, which he said would yield new investment opportunities.

Rasheed also invited Egyptian companies to invest in Pakistan and added that the Pakistan Railways has globally advertised tender openings for 230 passenger wagons and 820 freight wagons.

“In the five years from now, Pakistan will run advanced trains ensuring best travelling facilities for commuters,” Rasheed further told the Egyptian ambassador.

According to a report by ARY news, Dr Dahroug said that Egypt would encourage a national level investment plan for Pakistani railways department.
