Cotton growers advised against increased threat of pest attack

LAHORE

Cotton growers have been advised to be vigilant to save their crop from pest attacks, especially those from white fly after Pakistan experienced a recent rainy spell.

A spokesman from agriculture department Punjab said here on Monday that recent rain could have a bad impact on cotton crop, adding that growers should be ready to counter the attacks of white fly and other pests.

He suggested the growers must drain extra water from cotton fields, adding that recent rain would help boost cotton produce as well.

He said that recent rainy spell may affect the cotton crop which had been sown last week.

He said that it was time to carefully analyze the situation and take remedial measures to ensure protection of the crop.
