Khyber Pakhtunkhwa launches mobile app for flood compensation

New system aims for transparent and timely payments to flood victims

Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur inaugurated the “Digital Disaster Compensation Management” app to ensure transparent and timely compensation for flood victims.

Developed by the K-P Information Technology Board, the app was integrated with the government’s central service delivery platform, “Dastak,” in a record time.

It allows flood-affected families to receive compensation for damaged properties through direct online transfers. Victims can submit claims digitally by uploading property loss details, and geo-tagging will help verify claims, aiming to prevent false submissions. The system is fully automated, ensuring a paperless and cashless process.

A dedicated dashboard will enable the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, and other senior officials to monitor real-time data on damages and payments. Gandapur described the launch as a significant step toward swift and transparent relief, highlighting the speed of its development.

“This will provide quick payments to victims while ensuring transparency in the process,” he said.

To support the flood victims, Gandapur announced he would donate his one-month salary, and provincial cabinet members, MPAs, and government employees at various levels have also pledged salary contributions.

The Chief Minister directed that a special account be set up under the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to manage funds with transparency. “Every rupee will be accounted for, and details will be made public,” he assured.

Relief operations have been ramped up in flood-hit areas, especially in Buner, where emergency camps are being set up. Compensation for fatalities and injuries is already underway, and a survey to assess property damages is in progress. Gandapur has instructed officials to expedite the survey and ensure timely completion of compensation disbursements.

The Chief Minister emphasized providing cash assistance instead of ready-made food to allow victims to use the funds according to their needs. He also stressed the need for a transparent aid distribution mechanism based on NADRA data and directed district administrations to ensure continuous availability of funds for relief efforts.
