The Embassy of Sweden in Islamabad, in collaboration with Business Sweden, has launched the first matchmaking event of the Sustainable Textile Platform (STP), a program designed to accelerate Pakistan’s green transition in the textile sector.
Introduced in 2024, the STP focuses on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and advanced water treatment, aiming to strengthen innovation and competitiveness in one of Pakistan’s most vital industries.
Friday’s gathering brought together Swedish companies, Nordic technology providers, academia, and leading Pakistani textile stakeholders. Local suppliers held discussions with their Nordic counterparts to explore partnerships in automation, electrification, renewable energy solutions, sustainable materials, and water technologies.
Sweden’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Alexandra Berg von Linde, highlighted the strong turnout: “We are delighted to see such active engagement from both Swedish and Pakistani stakeholders, strengthening our trade partnership.”
The Vice President for Region APAC at Business Sweden added: “Swedish companies bring innovative technologies and climate-smart solutions, laying the foundation for long-term collaboration, innovation, and positive impact.”
Organizers stressed that this was only the start. The platform aims to foster lasting cooperation between Sweden and Pakistan, setting the stage for a greener and more competitive textile industry.
