Chery launches locally assembled plug-in hybrid SUVs, Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9 PHEV in Pakistan

Both 7-seater hybrids feature powerful motors, extended electric ranges, and luxury interiors; pricing yet to be revealed

Chery has expanded its lineup in Pakistan with the launch of two locally assembled plug-in hybrid SUVs — the Tiggo 8 PHEV and the larger Tiggo 9 PHEV — marking a major step forward for the country’s automotive sector.

According to Pakwheels, the two 7-seater models combine electric and combustion power, offering premium features, long driving ranges, and advanced technology aimed at reshaping Pakistan’s mid-to-high-end SUV market.

The Tiggo 8 PHEV features a 1.5L turbocharged engine paired with electric motors, producing 543 horsepower and 830Nm of torque. It carries an 18.3kWh battery that offers a 77km EV range and a total driving range of 1,020km.

Meanwhile, the Tiggo 9 PHEV — the largest SUV in Chery’s lineup — comes with a triple-motor setup and a larger 34.46kWh battery, delivering 610 horsepower, 920Nm of torque, and a 145km EV range.

Both vehicles include features such as panoramic sunroofs, ADAS safety systems, DC fast charging, and luxury interiors with heated and ventilated seats. Chery has not yet announced the prices for either model but is expected to do so in the coming weeks.
