Pakistan and Canada have agreed to strengthen cooperation in climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, and green economic development, the Ministry of Climate Change said on Thursday.
The understanding was reached during a meeting between Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Dr Musadik Malik and Canadian High Commissioner Tarik Ali Khan in Islamabad.
Discussions focused on expanding collaboration in climate-adaptive farming, community welfare, and renewable energy. The Canadian envoy offered technical assistance in climate-smart technologies through government-to-government (G2G) arrangements.
Dr Malik highlighted Pakistan’s Green Clusters initiative, aimed at promoting youth-led innovation and environmentally sustainable enterprises. He said Canada’s experience in clean energy and carbon management could support Pakistan’s green transition.
Khan conveyed condolences over the recent attack on Cadet College Wana in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and reaffirmed Canada’s support for peace and stability in the region. He also welcomed Pakistan’s facilitation of Canadian Canola Oil imports.
Both sides agreed to continue structured dialogue to advance climate cooperation and sustainable growth.
