ISLAMABAD: Responding to a calling attention in the National Assembly on Tuesday the Power Minister Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari said that a new law will be enacted soon to declare overbilling a crime.
He acknowledged that there are major inefficiencies in the power distribution companies which need to be addressed.
He said that overbilling and power pilferage are one of the major issues in the power sector and these will be tackled to provide relief to the consumers.
The minister said that over the last four years, the government focused on enhancing power generation capacity as a result of which power outages have been reduced to a great extent. He said that in the next few months, the power supply will exceed the demand.
