NAB summons 19 Customs Intelligence officials in Hino trucks auction case

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan has summoned nineteen officials of Customs Directorate of Investigation and Intelligence Quetta in the case pertaining to the auctioning of Hino trucks without body and chassis frames.

Documents available with Pakistan Today indicate that the NAB Balochistan has called on the officials of Customs Intelligence in Quetta before Deputy Director Waqar Rafiq to record their statement. “Whereas the competent authority has taken the cognizance of an offence committed by the officers of Customs Intelligence Department Quetta and others under the provisions of NAO 1999, the inquiry has revealed that following officers are in possession of information whatsoever, which relates to the commission of said offence (s).”

The officers are Director Irfan Javed, Deputy Director Abdul Mueed, Supredendent Fareed ud din Masood, Investigation Officers Shabir Ahmed, Bashir Tabbasum, Sepoys Baz Muahmmad, Ghulam Abbas, Zubair, Aurengzeb, Khan Muhammad, Waqar, Noor ud din, Naseeb Ullah and Drivers Razi Bhatti, Najeeb Ullah, LDCs Khurram, Zohaib, Salar and WO Shoaib Nawaz.

In addition to this, NAB directed the officials to explain the mechanism and personnel(s) responsible for the transportation of vehicles in and out of the Farooq bonded warehouse.

Further, it has sought the provision of the names of owners of said vehicles as well as any other information relevant to the fact in the issue.

It is pertinent to mention here that customs Intelligence Quetta had seized a number of chassis frames worth millions. The officials, on paper, showed these frames as full trucks which were subsequently auctioned. According to rules, the body and chassis frames cannot be auctioned.

Earlier, the NAB Baluchistan had sought details of government-approved auctions for MCC Quetta and Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation, Quetta along with details of all auctioned Hino trucks without body and chassis frames since 2013, especially from Farooq bonded warehouse.
