OGDCL managing director Zahid Mir resigns

ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDCL) Managing Director Zahid Mir has resigned from the top post apparently owing to the initiation of an investigation against him by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and inclusion of his name on Exit Control List (ECL), it was learnt on Monday.

Sources in OGDCL informed Pakistan Today that MD Zahid Mir has tendered his resignation, which has been accepted by the company’s board of directors.

They said that NAB has been investigating his appointment as the chief operating officer (COO) of the company as well for misuse of corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds of OGDCL during his tenure as the top man of OGDCL.

“Zahid Mir has been working as acting MD for the last four years. However, he has resigned. His name was placed on ECL following NAB’s recommendations,” an official of OGDCL on condition of anonymity confirmed.

It is pertinent to mention that the process of appointing a permanent OGDCL MD was started three times during the tenure of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), but Shahid Khaqqan Abbasi (ex-premier and former petroleum minister) rejected all the summaries in this regards.

  1. One should not take decisions even in good faith and honesty, when working in government organizations as one day the NAB will knock on your doors .
