Rupee gains 23 paisa against dollar; Gold price falls

ISLAMABAD: The exchange rate of the US dollar dropped by 23 paisas in interbank and was traded at Rs156.62, as compared to the last closing of Rs156.85, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) reported on Monday.

In the open market, the buying and selling rates of dollar closed at Rs156.3 and Rs157 respectively.

As per the central bank, the price of Euro decreased by Rs1.34 to Rs171.81 in interbank, as against the last closing at Rs173.15.

The exchange rate of Japanese yen remained stable at Rs1.47, whereas a decrease of Rs1.72 paisa was witnessed in the exchange rate of British Pound, which was traded at Rs189.36, as compared to the last closing at Rs191.08.

GOLD PRICE FALLS

The price of 24-karat gold fell by Rs200, as the commodity was traded at Rs88,600 per tola on Monday, as compared to the last closing at Rs88,800.

According to the Karachi Sarafa Association reported, the price of 10-gram gold witnessed a decrease of Rs172 and was traded at Rs75,960, as against the previous closing at Rs76,132.

The price of silver remained constant at Rs1130 per tola, while 10-gram silver was traded at Rs968.80.

In the international market, the price of per ounce gold jumped by $4 and was traded at $1,524, as compared with the last closing at $1,520.
