Sales of motorbikes, three wheelers decline 9.9pc in Aug

ISLAMABAD: The sales of motorcycles and three-wheelers dipped 9.91pc in August 2019 when compared with the corresponding month of last year, Pakistan Automobile Manufacturing Association (PAMA) reported on Wednesday.

During the month of August 2019, as many as 126,338 motorbikes and three-wheelers were sold, as against the sale of 140,338 units during the same month of 2018.

The sale of Suzuki motorcycles dipped by 15.73pc, from 1,837 units in August 2018 to 1,548 units in August 2019. Similarly, the sale of Yamaha motorbikes went down by 6.35pc, from 2,123 units in August last year to 1,988 units in the period under review.

The sales of United Auto motorcycles declined from 33,350 to 30,091 units (-9.77pc), while that of Road Prince motorcycles decreased by 23.36pc, from 14,660 units in August 2018 to 11,235 units in August 2019.

The sale of Qingqi three-wheelers fell by 78.13pc, from 1,843 units to 403 units. Similarly, the sale of United Auto three-wheelers went down by 80pc, from 825 units last year to 161 units this year.

On the other hand, the sale of Honda motorcycles in the country witnessed a nominal increase of 0.11pc, from 80,012 units in August 2018 to 80,104 units in August 2019.

The production of Road Prince three-wheelers also witnessed an increase of 1.19pc, from 752 units in August last year to 761 units in August this year.
