FPCCI asks for the removal of Dawood

KARACHI: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has demanded the removal of Abdul Razak Dawood for not being business friendly.

FPCCI President Daroo Khan Achakzai demanded the removal of the adviser on commerce and textile at a press briefing held here at the Federation House on Tuesday.

President FPCCI claimed FBR and FIA were constantly harassing the business community and that reduced foreign investment from US$3.4 billion to $ 1.6 billion.

He regretted that performance of the Ministry for Commerce was not satisfactory and alleged that no proper strategy has been adopted for promoting exports, which have shown lackluster growth.

He said the commerce ministry remained unable to evolve a comprehensive strategy after the lapse of 13 months and added that Dawood had ignored federation and other trade bodies but gave precedence to the multinationals for his personal gains.

Achakzai noted that the economic growth rate of 3.3 percent as against the initial projection of 6.2 percent was the main cause of the revenue shortfall of Rs110 billion in the first quarter of this fiscal year.
