PM calls for publicity of govt’s economic achievements

'Unfortunately, some individuals are spreading baseless propaganda on a crucial subject like economy, just for the sake of their personal gains'

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday advised his economic team to duly publicise the government’s economic reforms and their outcomes in order to counter the baseless propaganda by some mafias.

“Unfortunately, some individuals were spreading baseless propaganda on a crucial subject like economy, just for the sake of their personal gains,” the PM said while chairing a meeting of his economic team. “Such malicious attempts could only be repudiated if the economic team communicates truth to the masses regarding the measures and headways achieved by the government on economic fronts.”

The meeting discussed in detail the overall economic condition, pending court cases concerning the Federal Board of Revenue, facilitation of expatriates to send remittances, revival of the Pakistan Steel Mills, and steps to pass on the benefits of economic stability to the people.

The prime minister told the meeting that the government’s efforts for economic stability had brought about remarkable outcomes. He said there were clear signs of the economic stability in the country that had been crippled by serious challenges.

“Even the international institutions are acknowledging the improvement of economic indicators and stability. The prudent steps taken by the government has revived the confidence of both the local and foreign investors,” the PM stated.

He said after achieving the economic stability, the government was making efforts to provide maximum relief to the people despite resource constraints.

He said the multifaceted initiative of ‘Ehsaas’, launched by the government for poverty alleviation and social protection, manifested the government’s priorities.

“Besides making untiring efforts for the overall economic development, the government is also ensuring the supply of daily use items to the common man on reasonable prices.”

Mentioning the government’s efforts against hoarding and profiteering, the prime minister said modern technology was also being introduced to bring about transparency and corruption.

He directed the economic team to resolve the pending cases related to the economy on priority to make the economic journey continue uninterrupted.
