WB to provide $238m, ADB $350m to combat COVID-19 pandemic: Firdous

Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the World Bank will provide $ 238 million while the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will give $350 million to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a Twitter post, she urged the people to avoid crowded places and prefer take away at restaurants instead of dining there. 

Earlier, talking to a private news channel, she said decision to lockdown the country in wake of coronavirus threat could not be taken for safeguarding the livelihood of poor segment of society.

She said the daily wagers and labour class could not afford the lockdown and it would only aggravate the situation in the country.

Firdous Ashiq Awan said the government would take every decision in the larger interest of the people.
