Pakistan lauds IMF’s support to address economic impact of COVID-19

Minister for Economic Affairs Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar has appreciated the IMF’s support of 1.386 billion dollar under the Rapid Financing Instrument to address the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The appreciation was made during his meeting with IMF Resident Representative in Pakistan Teresa Daban Sanchez in Islamabad. The meeting discussed the looming global economic crisis and negative impact on communities due to the pandemic. Khusro Bakhtyar expressed hope that IMF and Pakistan would address the emerging situation while focusing on social safety nets for vulnerable sections of the society.                                      

The Resident Representative of IMF said that her organisation would continue to cooperate with Pakistan for sustainable economic growth in future.
